What you say about the guardian at the gate is so very true. But history favors the notion that a steady drip drip of attention brings about fundamental change.

After all, among others who thought they built their walls too well we must include Qin Shi Huang, Hadrian, Walter Ulbricht and whoever built Jericho before Joshua brought his trumpets along. Cock an ear, Donna. Can't you just hear those horns?

What's tough is intercepting the guardian at the gate. It's automatic to refrain from saying "ouch" when I feel hurt. I'm aware of my anger, but feel powerless to use it for it's intended purpose, to protect me or someone or something I love from harm. My automatic assumption is "there's no use in being angry."
There must be another message to replace that with, something that would honor the impulse to defend against harm.
I'm also afraid of being attacked. I can see this is ancient history speaking, but no amount of understanding undoes the conditioning, the automatic "I'll simply exist undercover, where no one can see me or hurt me." I guess the task is to challenge the idea that everyone is on the attack, but I really can't imagine how that would work.
I might have built my walls too well!

What a powerfully insightful article. As I sit here reading, I re-visit many manifestations of my own anger... And that's only in the last 24 hours!

wonderfully perceptive... Thank you.
